Mexico has detained appproximatley 400 central american immigrants traveling to the US. Many immigrants including children are fleeing their home countries of el salvador, honduras, and guatemala because there not safe and secure places to live. Mexico is being pressured by the US to detain the 20,000 people trying to migrate. Trump has threatened to shut down the borders if Mexico does not help. People were split of from there families and forced to hide because of the raids. I understand why Mexico has to try and stop these people because the US will not let them in but its a very difficult and sad situation. The US and Mexico have a good relationship so I see why Mexico is doing this.

If you were Mexico would you help the US or try and find a different solution for immigrants?
How do you think the US should respond to the immigrants?

I would help the US detain people. It is sad that people are being separated from their families, but it is still illegal to migrate here without being approved.

ReplyDeleteI think that threatening to shut down the borders is a little extreme. I think that the US should peacefully create an agreement with Mexico to help the people who feel they have no choice but risk their lives and move to a whole different country illegally. The fact that people are risking their lives for a chance at a better life shows that they are really desperate for help and are in serious danger in Mexico.

ReplyDeleteUltimately, I believe that the US needs to address far better solutions for the immigrants because it's not fair for them and not really giving them a choice and causing more chaos and problems so the solution isn't really a solution in the end but it's rather bringing up more problems.

ReplyDeleteI believe that both U.S. and Mexico should just help each other since they are close and should both find a solution. No should be blamed here. They should both be understandable and think of a way to help immigrants become safe.
