Eiffel tower goes dark

Image result for eiffel tower at night

The Eiffel tower went dark to play respect to the citizens of Sri Lanka that were killed. On Easter Sunday morning in Sri Lanka, at least 207 people were killed and hundreds more wounded by explosions that were set off by suicide bombers at three churches and four hotels. The tower also went dark in May 2017, after an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, killed 22 people; in January 2015, to honor those who died in the attack.

Do you think people noticed when the Eiffel Tower went?

How do people around the world mourn a tragedy?

  2. I think that this was noticed by people because the tower is always bright and noticeable from all over the city, and if it goes dark, people notice and start to pay attention.

  3. yes i think people would have noticed that the tower went dark since it is a big landmark in that city. People were probably concerned and shocked as to why it was turned off, but I think it was a good idea that they did this because then people could realized that something bad had happened.

  4. Yes, I do think people noticed when the Eiffel Tower went out, as it is such a large, bright (especially during night time) monument it would be kind of hard to miss it if its lights were off. :)

  5. I think some people realized that the eiffel tower went dark because the lights usually are on. Like said before the tower has dimmed to honor the people from the tragedies so locals must've sensed that something had happened.

  8. I think most people noticed the Effiel tower went dark because it is a huge landmark that is lit at night, so many tourists and locals must have noticed the difference. This would mourn the tragedy because the dimmed dark lights represented respect.

  14. I think that people would have noticed that the tower went dark, but probably didn't know why at the time. Also, it's up to the person who is mourning because we all mourn in different ways.
