Mozambique Decimated By Cyclone Idai
On Thursday, March 14, 2019, a cyclone named Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique.
It destroyed over 50 kilometers of land in Southern Africa, including parts of
Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. In many places, you can’t even see the
tops of houses or trees. Cyclone Idai has caused hundreds of thousands of
people to become stranded and left a potential of hundreds of people dead.
The focal point of the hit was a city in Mozambique called Beira, the fourth
biggest city in the country, 90% of which was destroyed. The United Arab
Emirates and The European Union are sending a combined emergency aid
of $8.97 million dollars to Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

- What should the world do to help assist?
- How were the surrounding countries affected?
- Do you think the people who are affected will be able to recover fully and rebuild?

i think just like the child safety program, there could be other programs that can help support these people who have lost their homes and valuables. i also think that if more schools were aware of this that things could be donated or contribute somehow to help support these families.
ReplyDeleteI think overtime, some people will be able to fully recover and building will be able to be rebuilt. I think the world can help assist by spreading awareness to one another of this in order to get people to help by donating or contributing to support these families and places that were destroyed.

I think that the buildings will be rebuilt in the future but that the people that lost their homes they should be helped right away and that wealthier countries like the U.S should help.
ReplyDeleteI think that the world should provide financial aid and first aid to the victims of the cyclone. I think that they could use all the help they can get.
ReplyDeleteI think that those who were affected by the cyclone will be able to fully recover. They only can do this with the help of other countries by getting money and other resources they need.
ReplyDeleteEven though it will take awhile, I think that eventually people will be able to recover fully and rebuild. The world could help assist this situation by donating things that the people affected might need, for example donating clothing and food.

ReplyDelete1) I think people should go and volunteer to help rebuild the community.
The UN and countries around the world should help Mozambique and other African countries rebuild and recover from Cyclone Idai. Donations, first aid, and help with reconstruction will assist Mozambique.
ReplyDeleteI think that they could recover, but it might take some time to rebuild. The world can help them with financial aid.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they will completely recover. They were hit very hard and it will take a long time to get back what they once had if at all. Lives will be destroyed along with houses and memories. Houses can be rebuilt but you can't replace memories and sentimental items.
ReplyDeleteTo help, the UN can take funds from a certain division in the UN to help pay for supplies. Normal people can also do fundraisers- Angela Hedlin
ReplyDeleteNo because the people in the cyclone have loss 90 percent of their homes and other building, they will need help from the government.
ReplyDeleteThe UN and Normal People should fundraise
