All military-style and semi-automatic weapons, assault rifles and high-capacity magazines will be banned in New Zealand following the mass shootings that had killed 50 people. An estimated 1.2 million guns are in circulation in the country; approximately 1 for every 3 people. Many people who had legally owned firearms will no longer be able to own them, due to them being classified as "military-style" weapons.
Similar measures have been taken in Australia including some exceptions from farmers, since guns have a real purpose for many farming communities, such as duck hunting. Last year, over 57,000 weapons were handed in, including a rocket launcher and a WWII machine gun. As a result of this, mass shootings have dropped to 0, and gun suicides and homicides have dropped significantly.

I believe that all automatic weapons and additions should be taken off the market. It has been proven that by not having guns for sale lowers the rates for Mass shootings.
ReplyDeleteI personally think that they weren't harsh on the gun control because there has been so many mass shootings within the last 2 years and limiting the use of the weapons can decrease the amount of lives people are losing around the world
ReplyDeleteI think that this harshness is good because it has dropped shuttings down. I think it is ok to have guns if they are for hunting purposes. I also do think that with out guns, there can be no shootings, so I think it would fix the shutting problem
