More than one in three Africans have thought about emigrating. People want to migrate because they want to look for work, they want to escape poverty and because they want to escape from economic hardships. Europe and North America are not one of the most popular destinations. Instead, they want to migrate within Africa. The people that are most likely to leave are young adults and highly educated citizens. Some of the countries where more than half of the people are considering to move to "at least for a little bit" are Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Togo, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Some barriers people face while moving and crossing country borders are that in recent years countries in Africa (like Namibia, Mauritius, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, and Benin) have loosened travel restrictions for other African nationals, and now they either ask for a visa on arrival or use their passport with the condition that they can only visit for up to 90 days. Some citizens still need a visa to travel to more than half of the 54 countries in Africa, as they are protecting their borders drawn up by European colonizers more than a century ago.More Info

They should migrate abroad if they are able to in order to get out of poverty or they should migrate within Africa. It depends on what their situation is and if they are willing to leave their homes for a better life.

ReplyDeleteI think that it is a good idea for people to migrate, because they do want a better life, but can’t get it where they are at. It depends on what the person want if they move within or out of Africa. I think that it is a good idea for young adults and educated citizens to migrate because they are trying to make a life for them selves just like everyone around them.
